Other Things I do

I play concerts as a solo musician and I compose music for film & television.

I have 3 wonderful 3-piece groups on the go: CRAN who play  Irish music and sing lots of songs with gorgeous harmonies;  Tyrrell Glackin Browne which is all about laid back easygoing music and songs; lastly but not least, Elsafty Armstrong & Browne with the finest Sean Nós singer this side of the Bol Uisce, Róisín Elsafty and the dreamy Early (never late) Harpist, Siobhán Armstrong.

I have a recording studio and publishing company and I am working on a project involving fashion photo-shoots of old “classic” sets of pipes.

I have recently finished writing the “Life & Music of R.L. O’Mealy”, an eccentric piper who died 60 years ago (www.seanreidsociety.org)

I have an ongoing collaboration with the poet Louis de Paor (www.louisnronan.com) We’ve done a pile of shows and have published a book and CD – way more than your usual “poet & piper”-type-thingy!

Well...

My name is Ronan and I play Irish music on the Irish uilleann pipes, flutes and whistles and I love playing at wedding ceremonies!

I was the original piper with both Riverdance and the Afro Celt Sound System and have been performing music publicly since 1977 when I did my first concert at the tender age of 12!

I have played at select weddings over the last 25 years and I treat each and every one as a special and personal occasion.  I delight in the sound of my instruments in a church or in a castle and I love to share that pleasure.

I am based in Galway but will travel anywhere.

So, what can you expect?

A Little Info about What I Do
(when I’m not piping you up the aisle)

The melodies and the lovely old instruments I play create the perfect mood for a wedding ceremony.

My music ranges from lively dance music to haunting slow airs, many of which will be instantly recognisable.

On my own, I play the Uilleann pipes, Flutes and Whistles and can cover all your musical needs.  This is what I prefer as it is all about the music and not so much about business!   This is really all you should need but if you absolutely want something bigger…
